A typical day

Ten hours, door to door

Champagne houses set their own tour times. We build the day around their slots and your taste, then send you the schedule with exact times.

  1. 8:30 am

    Pickup at your hotel

Your driver waits for you at the front desk, anywhere in Paris. About two hours east on the highway, bottled water on board, and time to hear what the day holds.

  2. 10:45 am

    A great house in Reims

You walk down into the crayères, old chalk quarries turned wine cellars, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site together with the Champagne hillsides and houses. The tasting comes at the end of the tour.

  3. 12:45 pm

    Lunch

A table in Reims or a village restaurant among the vines, whatever your budget. We book it, you pay on site.

  4. 2:30 pm

A second house, or a grower

Another great house, or a family estate in the Montagne de Reims where the winemaker often pours for you. Wine lovers go on to Épernay and its Avenue de Champagne.

  5. 5:30 pm

    Back to Paris

We leave in the late afternoon and you are back at your hotel around 7:30 pm. Want to stay longer? Eight hours in Champagne are included.

Times are a guide. Some houses close on Sundays or in winter: we will tell you as soon as you get in touch.

Your call

Three ways to spend the day

Tell us what you like to drink and what you want to see. We suggest a plan, you fine-tune it.

Reims and its chalk cellars

Two great Reims houses and their underground galleries, plus a stop at the coronation cathedral. The easiest choice for a first visit.

Reims, then Épernay

A house in Reims in the morning, the Avenue de Champagne in the afternoon, on the vineyard road over the Montagne de Reims. The two towns are about 20 miles apart.

A big name and a grower

The prestige of a famous house, then a grower pouring cuvées you will not find in Paris. The contrast wine lovers enjoy most.

The most exclusive houses, whose private tours book up months ahead, are part of our prestige day, quoted on request from Paris.

At a glance

What’s included in the day

About 2 hours each way

Door to door. Sleep, read, or line up your questions for the cellar master.

Up to 8 hours in Champagne

Enough for two or three houses and a relaxed lunch. Extra time is €75 (~$85 USD) per hour by sedan, €90 (~$100 USD) by van.

1 to 7 guests

A sedan for up to three, a van for up to seven. Larger groups travel in several vehicles or a minibus, quoted on request.

Pricing

Priced per vehicle, not per person

You pay for the car, the driver and the planning. Tastings are paid to the houses, so the price of the day stays the same whether you taste the house brut or the prestige cuvée.

Included

  • Pickup and drop-off at your address in Paris
  • Private driver in a suit, French and English speaking
  • Up to 8 hours of driver time in Champagne
  • Fuel, tolls and parking
  • Booking your cellar tours and, if you like, lunch
  • Water on board, driver’s meals included

Paid on the day

  • Cellar tours and tastings, usually 25 to €60 (~$65 USD) per person per house
  • Lunch
  • Any bottles you buy, which we load in the trunk

Paid directly to each house and restaurant.

Train, rental car or driver

Why not just take the TGV?

It is the question we hear most. Each option has its strengths; here is what to know before you choose.

The TGV

About 45 minutes from Paris Gare de l’Est to Reims, which is fast. But the houses are spread across Reims, the villages and Épernay, and once there you still need a car to get from one to the next.

A rental car

Total freedom, but someone drives and barely tastes. And parking in central Reims or Épernay is a challenge.

A private driver

Door to door, everyone tastes, the appointments are booked and the car waits outside each house. For two it costs more than the train; for six or seven the gap narrows.

Rather take the TGV? We will meet you at Reims station, and a full day in Champagne then starts from €480 (~$535 USD).

FAQ

Before you book

Where do you pick us up?

At your hotel, apartment or a train station, anywhere in Paris, and we bring you back in the evening. Versailles, La Défense, Disneyland Paris or an airport are possible too, quoted on request.

How much time do we get in Champagne?

Plan on about two hours each way. Eight hours on site are included; most of our guests spend five or six, visit two or three houses with lunch, and are back in Paris for dinner.

Which houses will we visit?

The ones that suit you: a great Reims house for its chalk cellars, then another house, a grower or Épernay. The houses set their tour times; if one is full on your date, we suggest an alternative of the same quality and standing.

How much are the tastings on top?

Usually 25 to €60 (~$65 USD) per person per house, more for prestige cuvées, paid directly to the house. The price of the day does not change.

How far ahead should we book?

One to two weeks is often enough for the big houses, more from May to October. If your date is close, write to us anyway: we will tell you right away what is still possible.

Do your drivers speak English?

Yes, our drivers speak French and English. A Japanese-speaking guide can be booked at extra cost.

Can we bring bottles back?

Of course. Buy what you like at each house; we load the cases in the trunk and drop them at your hotel.

How do we book?

Send us your date, your address in Paris and the number of guests. You get a schedule and a firm price within 2 hours during the day, then a quote to approve online. Cancellation is possible up to 48 hours before, as set out in our terms and conditions.

Whenever you are ready
