Two thousand years of history around Reims

A Roman capital, the city where the kings of France were crowned, a city devastated in World War I, and the place where World War II ended in Europe: few cities hold so much history within such a short drive. Here are our guides and our days with a private chauffeur to explore it.

From the Romans to May 7, 1945

Each step leads to a guide or to a day with a chauffeur: what there is to see and how to get there, with the price when it is fixed.

    Roman Reims

Durocortorum was then one of the great cities of Roman Gaul. Its remains include the Porte de Mars, a third-century triumphal arch, the cryptoporticus of the forum and, in the Saint-Remi museum, the sarcophagus of Jovinus.

    The UNESCO-listed chalk cellars

The chalk quarries dug in Gallo-Roman times became the cellars of the Champagne houses. Go down into them on a half-day outing, tasting included.

    Half-day with a chauffeur from €280 (~$315 USD)

  3. 496 · 1825Baptism and coronations
    Full day

    From coronations to chalk cellars

Clovis was baptized here at the end of the 5th century (traditionally in 496), Joan of Arc had Charles VII crowned here in 1429, and the kings of France were crowned here until Charles X in 1825. A day from the cathedral to the Saint-Remi basilica, then down into the cellars.

The full day with a chauffeur: €560 (~$625 USD)

Reims to Verdun with a chauffeur

The direct transfer to Verdun at a fixed price, €270 (~$300 USD) by sedan, if you are continuing your trip.

Scattered sites, with no train between them

In Reims, almost everything is within walking distance. But the 1918 battlefields and Verdun need a car. Your chauffeur takes you from site to site, waits at every stop and brings you back, while you take your time.

  • A route planned in advance around each site’s opening hours
  • A licensed guide on request, billed separately: from €360 (~$405 USD) for a half-day, not available on Sundays or public holidays
  • A fixed price, known before you book
