A bachelorette or hen party in Champagne is a celebration with bubbles at its heart: the whole group in a private minibus, a sober driver for everyone, and a day that runs from tastings to sabering, a photo shoot and a great table, with nobody near a steering wheel. Here is how Service VTC Reims helps you make it memorable, from choosing the vehicle to the cost per head.
Why Champagne is perfect for a bachelorette or hen party
Champagne ticks every box for a memorable bachelorette or hen party. It is 45 minutes from Paris by TGV or two hours by road, the setting is glamorous without being stuffy, and everything is packed into the 17 or so miles between Reims and Épernay. In a single day your group can take in a grand house, a proper lunch and a smaller grower, and never once touch a steering wheel.
That last point is what changes everything. A bachelorette or bachelor party is a group that wants to toast together, not a designated driver watching everyone else have fun. With a private chauffeur, nobody draws the short straw: you climb aboard, you enjoy, and the logistics stop being your problem.
Who this day is for: a bride-to-be and her friends, a crew marking a groom's last hurrah, a team that wants to do something better than another restaurant dinner. From six to around twenty people, it is the ideal format.
How many of you are there, and what to book
The first instinct is to keep the whole group in one vehicle. You stay together, nobody gets lost between houses, and the mood does not fall flat on the road.
Up to 7 people
A Mercedes V-Class van or equivalent. Comfortable for a smaller circle of friends, with room for bags and the day's gifts.
8 to 24 people
The Mercedes Sprinter minibus, our group vehicle. Everyone travels together, the conversation carries from one end to the other, and you all step off at the same spot at every stop.
Larger party
Beyond that, we add a second vehicle with its own driver to keep the same rhythm. Tell us the exact head count when you request a quote and we size the vehicle to it.
One thing worth knowing: the stated capacity is the number of seats. Leave a little margin if you travel with luggage, bottles bought along the way or decorations for the day.
A day that runs from morning to last pour
Nothing is set in stone, but here is a rhythm that works well for a group and leaves room to breathe between stops.
Morning, in Reims. Pickup at your hotel or the station, then a first visit at a grand house, cellar and tasting included. It is the most photogenic moment of the day, and ideal for group photos.
Midday. Lunch booked in advance, from a hearty regional bistro to a more gastronomic table depending on your budget. The driver drops you at the door and collects you: no hunting for parking and no pressure over when to head back.
Afternoon, towards Epernay. On to the Avenue de Champagne and its dramatic cellars, or to a more intimate grower in the surrounding villages. One or two visits depending on the pace you want, with time to linger.
End of the day. An easy ride back, perhaps a final viewpoint stop or a pause to buy the bottles for the party. You get home relaxed, with nobody watching how much they have had.
Which houses welcome groups
Not every house takes larger groups, and those that do often set a maximum head count per visit, a fixed time slot and a booking made well in advance. This is the first thing to lock down once the date is set.
The grand houses of Reims and Epernay have rooms that can seat a dozen people, sometimes more, by reservation. Independent growers offer a warmer, more personal welcome, but with smaller limits: for a large party the visit is sometimes split in two, or we steer you towards a house built for groups.
Rather than promise a specific name, we start from your head count and your wishes to suggest the houses genuinely available on your date. You can browse the houses we drive to for a sense of the options, keeping in mind that access is confirmed case by case.
Far more than a tasting
A bachelorette or bachelor party is not a wine seminar. Here is what gives the day some sparkle. We handle the driving and the timing; each activity is booked separately and paid on site.
Sabering
Open the bottle with a sweep of the saber, the way Champagne tradition demands. The move is spectacular and the video goes around the group within seconds. Some houses offer a sabering lesson.
Hot-air balloon
A flight over the vineyards at sunrise or sunset, Champagne stretching out beneath you. We drop you at the crew's meeting point, the parking lot of Reims-Prunay airfield, and pick you up there when you are back: the crew drives passengers to the launch site, chosen on the day according to the weather.
Photo shoot
A photographer in the vines or in town to capture the bride-to-be and the whole crew. Real keepsakes, well beyond the shots taken on a phone.
Spa and wellness
A relaxed break between two visits: a private spa on the edge of Reims, with a hot tub, sauna and steam room, in rooms for 2 to 8 people. Perfect for a breather before setting off again.
A festive dinner
A champagne bar, a rooftop or a lively table to carry the evening on. Your driver can stay at your disposal for the evening, or come back for you anywhere in Reims when you message, until 1 a.m.: you head back on your own schedule, no worry about the return.
Blind tasting game
A friendly contest among friends: who can pick out the best brut? A fun way to spice up the afternoon and get everyone placing bets.
Making something together
Many groups like to leave with more than a memory: a skill, a handmade keepsake, a bottle with their name on it. Here are workshops that go down especially well at a bachelorette or bachelor party. We drive you there and set the timing; the workshop is booked separately.
Blend your own cuvée
Taste the wines straight from the vats, make your own blend and leave with your bottle, in Hermonville just outside Reims. It is a still wine, not a champagne: that is what lets you take the bottle home the same day.
Perfume workshop
Create your own fragrance with a perfumer, a bottle to take home from the day. Elegant and different.
Flower crown
The floral workshop, a bachelorette favorite: everyone leaves with their own crown, perfect for the bride-to-be's photos.
Fossier biscuit house
Reims pink biscuits and other old-style sweets: a visit to the Fossier biscuit house, a tasting, and a box to take home.
Sewing and customizing
Personalize T-shirts, tote bags or accessories in the group's colors. A creative workshop that leaves a keepsake to wear.
Champagne mixology
Learn to twist champagne into cocktails with a bartender, from a house spritz to bespoke creations.
Nobody drives, everybody celebrates
This is the argument that makes all the difference for a bachelorette or bachelor party. With a private chauffeur, there is no designated driver stuck on water while the others taste. The group stays whole, from the first glass to the last.
Beyond the mood, there is the safety and the legal peace of mind: no worrying about blood alcohol when it is time to drive again, no late-day stress. You know in advance who takes you home, and at what time.
The driver knows the region, the travel times between houses and the good drop-off points. In practice, they absorb all the logistics: you just enjoy the moment.
What it costs, per head
The right way to think about it is per head, because that is where a group becomes good value: the price is per vehicle, not per passenger. From Reims, a full-day chauffeur charter in a van (8 hours, up to seven people) is €580 (~$650 USD), or €83 (~$95 USD) per head for seven.
The chauffeured minibus (19 or 24 seats, subject to availability) is priced on quote, depending on the length of the day, the program and the date: send us the number of guests and the outline of the day and we reply with a firm price. For a group of eight, a van is often enough and costs less.
On top of the transport come the visits and tastings, paid directly to each house. Expect on the order of €25 (~$30 USD) to €60 (~$65 USD) per person for a classic visit and tasting at a grand house, more for prestige cuvées. Lunch is separate and depends entirely on the table you choose.
When to book and where to start
Bachelorette and bachelor parties almost always fall on a Saturday, and both spring and autumn are in high demand. House visit slots go quickly: as soon as the date is fixed, write to us and we will check the vehicle's availability while we book the visits (a few houses ask you to book them yourself, and we will tell you which), then lunch.
There are two possible starting points: we collect you in Paris and bring you back to Paris, or we pick the group up directly in Reims if you arrive by train. Either way the pickup is door to door, hotel or station.
The simplest path is to write to us with your date, your head count and what you have in mind. We get back to you with a clear quote and a proposed day that we shape together.
What groups ask us
There are about ten of us. Can we all fit in one vehicle?
Yes. The Mercedes Sprinter minibus holds a group of up to around twenty, everyone together. Beyond that, we add a second vehicle with its own driver to keep the same pace.
Can we start from Paris rather than Reims?
Of course. We collect the group in Paris, at your hotel or apartment, and bring you back to the same place at the end of the day. If you prefer to arrive by train, we meet you at Reims station.
Do the visits need to be booked far ahead?
For a group, yes. Houses that receive several people have limited slots, especially on Saturdays and in high season from May to October. Ideally allow several weeks, more in spring and autumn.
How many houses can we visit in a day?
Two, or three if the group is punctual and the visits well linked. We advise against overloading: two fine visits and a good lunch beat a race against the clock.
Does the driver stay with us all day?
Yes, the vehicle and driver are yours for the booked duration. They drop you and collect you at each stop, manage the travel times and adapt if the day runs a little late.
Can we decorate the vehicle or bring something to toast with?
Reasonable, non-staining decorations are fine; just let us know when you request a quote. For anything consumed on board, we agree together what is allowed so the day stays pleasant for everyone.
How do we get a price for our group?
Send us your date, your head count and the style of day you want. We get back to you with a detailed quote, transport included, and a suggested itinerary to adjust to your wishes.
