Your first visit to Champagne

Four hours from Reims to see both sides of Champagne: the cellars of a great house, then the tasting table of a grower who farms their own vines. You taste, your chauffeur drives.

  • 4 hoursmorning or afternoon
  • 2 housesa great house and a grower
  • €280 (~$315 USD)per vehicle, by sedan

Two ways to make Champagne

On a first visit, contrast is the best teacher. First, a great house in Reims: miles of galleries dug into the chalk, millions of bottles aging in the dark, a name you already know. Then a grower on the Montagne de Reims, who farms their own plots and makes wine from their own grapes.

Between the two, you learn what the label does not say. A house blends grapes from dozens of villages so its Champagne tastes the same every year; a grower bottles a single hillside. We choose both visits based on what you like to drink and on the time slots open on your date.

The afternoon, step by step

Here is how an afternoon starting at 2 pm might go. A morning visit follows the same plan.

  1. 2:00 pmReims

    Your chauffeur meets you

At your hotel, the train station or your address in Reims. Your chauffeur has the plan and the time of each visit.

  2. 2:15 pmA great house

    The cellars beneath the city

A tour led by the house: the chalk galleries, the bottles stacked to age, the riddling, then a tasting at the end. Allow one hour to an hour and a half.

  3. 4:00 pmMontagne de Reims

    At a grower’s

About twenty minutes’ drive through the vines. The grower, or someone from the family, shows you the winery and pours their wines, often right where they are made.

  4. 6:00 pmReims

    Back to your door

Your chauffeur takes you back to your hotel, or straight to dinner. The bottles you buy ride in the trunk.

Times are approximate: each house sets its own time slots, and we build the day around them.

From Paris

The full day from your Paris hotel

Reims is a two-hour drive from central Paris: on a half day, you would spend more time on the highway than in the cellars. We suggest the full day instead, from your Paris hotel and back in the evening, at €1040 (~$1165 USD) per vehicle by sedan.

Questions we often get

We have never been to Champagne. Is this the right tour?

Yes, this is the visit we designed for a first time. The pace leaves time for questions, and the two houses show two ways of making Champagne. Your chauffeur shares as much or as little as you like.

Which houses will we visit?

A great house in Reims, one whose name you probably know, then a grower on the Montagne de Reims. We choose them when you book, based on your tastes and the slots open on your date, and confirm them in writing with the times.

How much do the tours cost?

They are paid at each house, on top of the price of the car. The rate depends on the house and the wines you taste. We tell you before you confirm, and you choose.

How many people can come?

Up to 3 by sedan and up to 7 by van: the price is per vehicle, whatever the number of guests. For 8 or more, ask us for a quote: some houses also limit group size.

What about weekends?

On Saturdays, the houses’ time slots go fast, so book a few weeks ahead if you can. On Sundays, several great houses in Reims are open, but few growers are; we let you know what is possible on your date.

Can we do it in the morning?

Yes. We set the pickup time around the two houses’ slots, morning or afternoon.

Can we add lunch or a third house?

Yes, by switching to the full day: three visits and lunch, at €480 (~$535 USD) by sedan and €580 (~$650 USD) by van. Lunch is paid at the restaurant.

How do we book?

Send us the date, the number of guests and your pickup address, through the form or by phone. We reply within 2 hours during the day with the plan and the fixed price. Your booking is confirmed once you sign the quote.

How do we pay?

By card (secure payment link) or by bank transfer, when you book. We do not take cash. We can issue the invoice in your company’s name.

What languages do your chauffeurs speak?

Our chauffeurs speak French and English. A Japanese-speaking guide is available on request, at extra cost.

What if we need to cancel?

Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before pickup. Between 48 and 24 hours, half the price is due, and the full price after that. The houses have their own cancellation terms for their tours. Details are on our cancellation and refund page.
