"How much is a private Champagne tour?" is the question we hear most, and the honest answer is: it depends on your group and your day, but there is nothing mysterious about it. Here is a clear breakdown of what you pay for, what is not included, and why the price per person falls sharply the more of you there are.
What actually sets the price
A private Champagne tour is priced for the whole group, not per head. What you are paying for is the vehicle, the chauffeur for the day, and the coordination of your visits: the fuel, the tolls, the waiting time between cellars, and the booking of your appointments. That is why, in a given vehicle, the tour costs the same whether you are one or three in a sedan, or four or seven in a van: you are hiring the car and the driver, not a seat.
Two things then move the figure: how long the day runs (a half-day or a full day), and which vehicle you need (a sedan, a van, or our minibus for larger groups). One important point that trips people up: the tasting and entrance fees at the houses are not included in the tour price. They are paid directly on site, and we are always upfront about that.
Below we set out what is included, what is not, and how the cost per person works out once you share it across your group.
What is included, and what is not
Included: vehicle & chauffeur
Your private vehicle and a professional English-speaking chauffeur for the whole tour, fuel, tolls and parking, and the driving between every stop. The core of the price.
Included: coordination
We plan the route, book your cellar appointments (Taittinger and Bollinger are booked in your own name, and we tell you exactly what to take) and keep the day running to time, so you never touch a map or a phone. This organization is part of the tour, not an extra.
Not included: tastings
Visits and tastings are paid directly at each house, usually from about 30 to 100 EUR per person at the grand names depending on the experience, less at growers, sometimes free with a purchase. Budget for these separately.
Not included: lunch
Lunch is on you, from a vineyard bistro to a Michelin table. We book it and build it into the day at no extra charge; you simply settle the restaurant directly.
What a day with us costs
Our prices are fixed and charged per vehicle, chauffeur included, whatever the number of guests. A half-day (four hours, one or two cellars) starts at €280 (~$315 USD) by sedan (one to three guests) and €340 (~$380 USD) by van (up to seven). A full day (eight hours, two or three cellars and lunch) starts at €480 (~$535 USD) by sedan and €580 (~$650 USD) by van. The price follows what you ask for: €520 (~$580 USD) for a day at the grand houses, from €560 (~$625 USD) for days with growers or built around a terroir, and €630 (~$705 USD) for Dom Pérignon, Krug or Louis Roederer (subject to the House’s approval), all by sedan. Larger groups travel by minibus, on quotation. Tastings are paid on site on top, from about 30 to 100 EUR per person at the grand houses. We always send a firm, itemized quote before anything is confirmed.
Private tour or a shared group tour?
A shared group tour
Cheaper on paper, because you buy a single seat on a set departure. But you follow a fixed route with strangers, on the operator's schedule, with no say over the houses or the pace.
A private tour
The car and the day are yours. Your choice of houses, your timing, your pace, hotel pickup included. For two people it costs more per head; for a family or a group of friends it often works out the same or less, and it is far more comfortable.
Our take
If you are a couple on a tight budget, a shared tour has its place. From four people up, a private tour is usually the better value once you split it, and an incomparably better day.
Why more guests means less per person
Because a private tour is priced per vehicle, the cost per person drops the more of you share it. Our minibus seats large parties, so a family gathering, a group of friends or a company outing can enjoy a private day for a very reasonable amount each. Here is an example for a full day at the grand houses, before the on-site tastings:
| Your group | Vehicle | Example day (group) | Per person |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 guests | Sedan | €520 (~$580 USD) | €260 (~$290 USD) |
| 3 guests | Sedan | €520 (~$580 USD) | ~€173 (~$195 USD) |
| 4 guests | Van | €640 (~$715 USD) | €160 (~$180 USD) |
| 7 guests | Van | €640 (~$715 USD) | ~€91 (~$100 USD) |
| 15 guests | Minibus | On quotation | On quotation |
Fixed prices per vehicle for a day at the grand houses from Reims, before on-site tastings. Beyond seven guests, the minibus is quoted on request.

What travelers ask us about the price
How much does a private Champagne tour cost?
It is priced per vehicle, not per person. A half-day starts at €280 (~$315 USD) by sedan and €340 (~$380 USD) by van, a full day at €480 (~$535 USD) by sedan and €580 (~$650 USD) by van. What is included in the price?
The vehicle, a professional English-speaking chauffeur for the day, fuel, tolls, parking, the driving between stops, and the planning and booking of your appointments. Tastings, entrance fees and lunch are not included and are paid directly on site.
Is a private tour worth it compared to a group tour?
A shared group tour is cheaper for one or two people, but you follow a fixed route and schedule with strangers. A private tour gives you your own itinerary, pace and hotel pickup. From about four guests it is usually similar in price once split, and a far better day.
Does it get cheaper with more people?
Yes, markedly. Because you are hiring the vehicle and driver, the cost per person falls as the group grows. Our minibus lets a larger party enjoy a private day for a modest amount each, often less than a shared seat would cost.
How much are the tastings on top?
At the grand houses, a visit with tasting is usually about 30 to 100 EUR per person depending on the experience and the cuvées. Many growers charge less, or waive the fee with a purchase. These are paid directly at each house on the day.
Do you require a deposit?
The day is held firm once the quote is settled, by secure card link or bank transfer. We keep it simple and send you a clear, itemized quote first, with no hidden extras.
