The house

Bollinger was founded in Aÿ on February 6, 1829. The house is still family-owned, and its style rests on Pinot Noir, which covers more than 60% of its 180 hectares of vines.

From 1941 to 1971, the house was run by Elisabeth Bollinger, whom the people of Aÿ called “Madame Jacques.” During the Occupation, she toured the vineyards by bicycle. She launched R.D. in 1967, then in 1969 the first Vieilles Vignes Françaises, made from two small plots of Pinot Noir that were never grafted.

The house’s finest wines are fermented in oak casks, some 4,000 of them, looked after by its own cooper, and some of its reserve wines are aged in magnums.

Prices per adult, at the house rate, checked in October 2026. Ages 12 to 18: €50 (~$55 USD); ages 6 to 11: €30 (~$35 USD). Proper attire is requested. There is no elevator: the tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility.

Who books the tour

At Bollinger, the tour is booked in your name: through the house’s 1829 program, which is free to join, or through Champagne Booking, which sells the same tours, paid by card. Beforehand, we check which slots are actually open, build the day around them and tell you exactly what to book: the tour, the date, the time.

Chauffeur prices

Fixed prices per vehicle, VAT included, with pickup at your hotel in Reims or Épernay. Your chauffeur stays with you from house to house; at Bollinger, you book the tour yourself, following our instructions.

Aÿ is five minutes from Épernay: Bollinger in the morning, a house on the Avenue de Champagne in the afternoon.

Several houses and growers sit within a few kilometers of each other, at the foot of the Pinot Noir slopes.

Frequently asked questions

Is Bollinger open on weekends?

No. Tours run Monday through Friday, by appointment. On Saturdays, we suggest other houses that are open that day.

What are the Vieilles Vignes Françaises?

Two small plots of Pinot Noir in Aÿ, spared by phylloxera and never grafted, tended by hand. They yield a rare cuvée, launched in 1969 by Madame Bollinger.

Should we arrive early?

Yes, 15 minutes before the tour starts: the house may turn latecomers away. We set the pickup time accordingly.

Is the tour price included?

No. Our price covers the chauffeur and the vehicle. The Bollinger tour is booked in your name, at the house price.

Can we see several houses in one day?

Yes, in a full day (€520 (~$580 USD) by sedan): the 2-hour tour, one or two more houses and a lunch break. A half day (€300 (~$335 USD) by sedan) covers the visit and the drives.

Do you pick up in Paris?

Yes. Our Champagne day trip from Paris picks you up at your Paris hotel and brings you back in the evening, with a 2-hour drive each way.

How do I pay?

By card (secure payment link) or by bank transfer, when you book. We do not accept cash. Invoices can be issued in your company’s name on request.

Which languages do your chauffeurs speak?

Our chauffeurs speak French and English. House tours are usually given in French and English, sometimes in other languages depending on the house.
