The house

Founded in 1772, Veuve Clicquot owes its legend to Barbe-Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin, widowed at 27, who took over the house. It was in her cellars, in the early 19th century, that she developed the riddling table that made champagne clear, and in 1818 she created the first blended rosé.

The tours go down into the house’s crayères, a UNESCO World Heritage site, on the Saint-Nicaise hill.
